Holy crepe! The Traffic Madness of Paris.

Sacre Coer in Paris

By leaving Mont-Saint-Michel, it is official: We are on our way back to Paris.

But we absolutely wanted to experience two great things: Standing in the 50-mile-queue at the Palace of Versailles and driving through completely mad traffic in the middle of Paris. Of course at 95 F in the shade with a small Fiat, where the roof hatch cannot be closed against the sunlight.
Here comes a winkingly final report, spiced with the black pepper of honesty.

10,000 Dead People and a Castle in the Sea.

The turquoise water glistens in the hot midday sun. Down at the beach I spot red and pink parasols. Nearly 9,500 white crosses upstairs. I touch the green grass with my fingers and later the fine sand on Utah Beach. I want to grasp it - the incredible thing that has happened here. And yet it keeps running away.

Étretat: Chalk Cliffs and Strawberry Fries.

The Cliffs of Étretat, Normandy, Sunset

Paris, Boulevard de Sébastopol, 90 F at 9 pm. Neon lights, music, screeching tires, warm asphalt, spices in the air. We just arrived. For us Paris is the starting point of our road trip across Normandy. Colorful villages, historical castles and ruins, crooked half-timbered houses and strawberries instead of chips are awaiting us in the upcoming days.
